Hand Therapy
Our hands are our connection with the outside world. We use them to perform tasks, to feel sensations such as temperature or texture and for communication and expression. An injury, no matter how big or small, can have a huge impact on the function of this amazing and intricate tool.
Hand therapy involves the assessment and treatment of hand, wrist and arm conditions to establish a diagnosis and to create and implement a treatment plan working towards end goals. Treatment modalities include soft tissue techniques, stretches, strengthening, proprioception retraining, scar management, desensitisation and sensory reeducation. A large variety of off shelf splints are available to try on and purchase and there is the option of thermoplastic heat moulded splints if deemed more suitable (all splints are charged at an extra cost).
Having worked in the region since 2003 Nicki has worked closely with hand consultants and can advise onward referral for imaging and consultant opinion as required.
