1 to 1 Physio Led Pilates
At or prior to the first session you will be asked to complete a health screening questionnaire designed to identify key aspects about your health. This ensures exercises are both effective and appropriate for you as an individual.
During your first session a physical assessment of your posture, muscle length, muscle function and flexibility is carried out. This is much like a typical physiotherapy assessment and ensures the exercises target key areas and address issues specific to you such as the presence of back pain.
You will be asked about your personal goals be it improved posture, flexibility, reduction of pain, improved strength or relaxation. Pilates can help with all of these.
Using this information sessions are planned, taught and progressed over several weeks with you as in individual in mind.
Sessions
Subsequent sessions are approximately 45 minutes in duration and at least 40 minutes of this will be exercising. There is always the opportunity to discuss issues, ask questions and for reassessment.
Exercises are carried out on a floor mat and small equipment is used including the Pilates ring, exercise elastic, resistance bands, foam roller, weighted balls and the gym ball. A treatment plinth is available if required. For exercising please wear comfortable clothing for moving in (e.g. leggings and a top) plus socks.
Specifically selected exercises can be sent to you via an on line link with explanatory notes and a demonstration video for home practice.
Other Information
In some cases, and only with your consent, it may be necessary to liaise with your GP.
If, from information gathered from your health screening questionnaire and your assessment, it is felt you would benefit from an alternative treatment approach you will be advised.
